D&T Mini Practical - The Egg Holder Project

(1)
A mini design and make project which introduces students to the required content for assessment for both GCSE and A Level Design Technology. The students are required to manufacture a holder for a boiled egg, using a small amount of given dissimilar materials. They are to produce a mini portfolio of design work alongside the 3D outcome. Pack consists of the unit of work, from design brief to evaluation, evaluation help sheet, as well as a summative assessment sheet for the teacher, which allows you to assess your students on the quality of the portfolio, design work and 3D outcome, as well as offering them the chance to feedback to you what they enjoyed/disliked about the project – an OFSTED favourite.

A Level Product Design Exam Prep Questions

(2)
This resource pack consists of 24 weeks (2 terms) worth of mock exam questions, structured around the specification content of EDUQAS A Level Product Design, as well as model answers in the PowerPoints, written using the mark schemes and examiners reports. The questions can be given as standalone homework or used as extension tasks. The questions are mixed, (high and low mark questions), and gathered from past papers. I would recommend you give the students one question a week to complete for homework and then review it as group using these PowerPoints. Can also be used to cover the specification content from other A Level exam boards, as the content required is very similar.

A Level D&T NEA Guide Booklet

(0)
This booklet breaks down each page of the NEA requirements in detail via a Product Design route, as well as offering a resource list of recommended literature, and sketchbook checklist to ensure students complete all work required for assessment. This booklet has been constructed around the EDUQAS A Level Design Technology specification, although it can be easily adjusted to suit any exam board. This resource is extremely helpful in allowing students to see exactly what content is required in each page of their NEA.

D&T Mini Project Practical: The Cardboard Chair Challenge

(5)
An OFSTED graded Outstanding lesson for introducing students to the design, make and evaluate requirements of design technology. Ideal for Key Stage 3,4 and 5 including students with no previous hard technology experience. The main focus of the lesson is to work as part of a small team to creatively problem solve, by creating a cardboard chair with limited equipment and resources. The chair must be freestanding, and support the weight of a team member. All Personal Learning Thinking Skills and Functional Skills are developed throughout this lesson and are detailed in the lesson plan. Resource is fully differentiated including a help sheet and extension task. Assessment for Learning is fully detailed, as is a risk assessment and resource requirement list.
